Description

This was a mammoth undertaking for me, not so much because of the processing - unusually so - but because of finding it! I do not use plate solving - I do not think I could mentally cope with bringing that into my imaging, however much I might like to. So, I manually found it by putting in the coordinates that I had, and then through a process of comparing certain star shapes within the field of view, with other photos, until I am confident I have it relatively centred. I also have a slight cone error too, just to make matters worse. Pretty cold work at -3C. But, with these darker nights, I sort of have the patience for this. The imaging time was separated out by a bright moon period, although the capturing of the Ha was done during a roughly 90% bright moon, the OIII not so. I could see no Ha whatsoever on the subs, but fortunately upon stacking there it was. I am very pleased with the result, because of  my circumstances, and because it is such a faint object - it feels like a real achievement , especially as the classic Cassegrain is a tough scope for me to use - I run it at f9 normally, rather than the native f12. It was 28 Has and 34 OIIIs each at 5 minutes long - I am never sure about the colour of these objects, but tried to go for the teal look rather than the normal blue. Imaging time was thus 5 hours 10 minutes. I really like this object with Gary Imm having first drawn my attention to it, and he has an excellent write up about it.
